UNIFIED APPROACH FOR STUDYING URANIUM TRANSFER IN AERATION ZONE (AN EXAMPLE OF THE TULUKUYEVSKOYE DEPOSIT, SOUTH-EASTERN TRANSBAIKALIA)

The data of a long-term (since 2000) study of the processes of primary ores destruction, leaching, redistribution and concentration of uranium in favorable structural and lithological «traps» in the open pit of the Tulukuyevskoye deposit of the Streltsovka ore field in the Southeeastern Transbaikalia are presented. It is established that the most important factor influencing the dynamics of the modern oxidation front shifting is the fault-related physico-chemical reaction (glay and sorption) barriers, where the effective retention of U(VI) is due to Fe-Mn oxyhydroxides, impregnated carbonaceous matter and ferrihydrite formed by microorganisms. The matrix of interaction of the key processes determining the leaching and concentration of uranium is given, which can be used to unify methodological techniques for studying the conditions of uranium migration in the aeration zone.

Keywords: aeration zone, Tulukuyevskoye deposit, uranium migration, accumulation, reaction barrier.

GEOCHEMICAL FEATURES OF LANDFILL SOIL SOLID WASTE YANINO-1 (SAINT PETERSBURG)

Processing and storage of solid household waste is an urgent problem due to the constant growth of their accumulation. When storing compost outdoors, as a result of mechanical, chemical and biological weathering, chemical elements become mobile and migrate to surrounding areas, creating soil and hydrochemical anomalies. Two zones have been identified in the landfill soil storage zones: new burials (2019–2020, young deposits) and old burials (2000–2005, settled deposits). In young soils, high concentrations of most chemical elements (Zc =74) were recorded in comparison with the settled soils (Zc =32). The chemical composition of the soil filtrate was evaluated. Newly formed mineral phases have been identified. Communities of microorganisms were determined by the method of soil dilutions.

Keywords: solid household waste, landfill soil, soil filtrate, new mineral phases, microbial communities.

SAFETY ISSUES OF STORAGE AND DISPOSAL OF LEGACY AND NEWLY GENERATED RADIOACTIVE WASTE

At the end of 2022 the Government of the Russian Federation approved changes of the criteria for classifying legacy radioactive waste (RW) into non-retrievable RW (on-site disposal) and retrievable (disposal in new facilities), which initiates a review of previously made decisions and justification disposal option RW for objects with postponed decision. The growing need for isolation from the environment of both retrievable RW and non-retrievable RW requires the research and development engineering safety barrier systems. The article presents approaches to safety assessment of RW disposal, and application experience of modern clay based barrier materials.

INDUCTION LOGGING AS A METHOD OF MONITORING THE MOVEMENT OF TECHNOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS DURING IN-SITU LEACHING OF HYDROGENIC URANIUM DEPOSITS

The article presents the results of research of the dependencies between the type of permeability of uranium rocks and induction logging data at uranium deposits of Chu-sarysu. Dependences of the type of permeability of rocks and the effectiveness of induction logging for monitoring the movement of solutions have been identified and substantiated. The method of induction logging can be used to assess the geological conditions during the injection of radioactive waste into borehole, as well as for the subsequent monitoring of groundwater.

DESIGNING A GEOINFORMATION DATABASE FOR A RADIOACTIVE WASTE DISPOSAL FACILITY

The study discusses the problem of storage and availability of geological data associated with radioactive waste disposal sites with a lifetime of more than 100 years. The goal of the study is to develop a set of foundational principles for collecting and generating metadata that are effective for long-term storage and use. This is accomplished by developing well-defined data models using international standards and creating specialized data models. The study proposes a spatial database structure with three data models (geological, geophysical, and monitoring) based on INSPIRE principles that can be adapted to the unique needs of any observing site. The proposed database structure is designed to ensure the reliability and usability of the data over time.

Keywords: database (DB) design, geographic information system (GIS), NEA, INSIPRE, radioactive waste repository, international standards ISO TC211 series.
