FORMATION AND MAIN RESULTS OF THE ACTIVITY OF DOMESTIC URANIUM GEOLOGY
A brief history of the formation of domestic uranium geology is considered. The successes of the activities of scientific and production organizations in the creation of a uranium mineral resource base are shown. Discoveries of astonishing scale and speed were made thanks to government policies that made it possible to attract huge financial and human resources for this. In a short time, the country’s nuclear shield was created.

THE ROLE OF ACADEMIC SCIENCE IN THE CREATION OF THE URANIUM ORE FORMATION THEORETICAL BASIS
A brief analysis of the trends in the development of the mineral resource complex of uranium in connection with the projected growth of electricity generation at nuclear power plants is carried out. The tasks of fundamental and searching scientific research in the formation of the theoretical basis of uranium ore formation are considered. New approaches to the identification and justification of examine areas and deep-lying «hidden» objects based on models of mineral-forming systems of uranium deposits using the latest technical tools, methods and technological solutions aimed at ensuring the sustainable development of the Russian nuclear industry are proposed.

DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGICAL SUPPORT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF URANIUM DEPOSITS OF THE SOVIET UNION AND EASTERN EUROPEAN COUNTRIES
The history of the creation of the uranium mineral resource base in our country is closely connected with the Nuclear Project. The main historical milestones and the most significant uranium objects, whose reserves formed the basis of the mineral resource base, are considered. The role of VNIIHT in the development of uranium ore processing technologies and VNIPIpromtechnology as the general designer of mining and ore processing enterprises in the uranium deposits of the Soviet Union and Eastern European countries is shown.

THE STATE AND PROSPECTS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ROSATOM’S URANIUM MINING ABROAD
In order to guarantee the supply of raw materials for the Russian nuclear industry, Rosatom State Corporation actively participates in foreign uranium projects. Thus, the balanced innovative technical policy implemented jointly with JSC «NAC Kazatomprom», applicable to deposits in Kazakhstan that are unique in their geological and technological characteristics, is aimed at optimizing production processes. The Mkudju River deposit in Tanzania is in a high degree of readiness for quarrying. In 2019 it was decided to conduct pilot production with the launch of pilot production in 2024. The rich experience of Russian geologists was successfully implemented in Namibia as part of the Krylia exploration project. In the next five years, open-field reserves should be explored and field experimental work carried out.

METHODOLOGY AND RESULTS OF THE REGIONAL FORECAST OF LARGE HYDROGENIC URANIUM DEPOSITS IN INSUFFICIENTLY EXPLORED REGIONS
The features of forecasting work on uranium in large sedimentary basins of insufficiently explored territories are considered. As an example, studies carried out in Namibia were used. It has traditionally been considered unpromising for the detection of roll-type uranium objects. The obtained results showed the high efficiency of advanced forecasting work. They made it possible to allocate a promising search area. Within its limits, ore-bearing zones of interlayer oxidation have been established. As a result, Russian geologists discovered a large deposit.
Keywords: forecasting work, roll-type uranium deposits, in-situ oxidation zone, Namibia.
