PALEOGEODYNAMIC FEATURES OF THE MONGOL-OKHOTSK BASIN

Paleogeodynamic reconstructions of the Mongol-Okhotsk paleoocean (MOPO) and its south and north frameworks are presented based on the 2005–2020 retrospective data. Three sectors are highlighted on the MOPO territory, i.e., Western, Central, and Eastern. The beginning of the Eastern and Central sectors’ formation occurred late in Riphean, and these expanded westward. The closure periods of the sectors were as follows: Western in Devonian, Central in mid-Jurassic, and Eastern in Tithonian to Late Albian.

Keywords: Mongol-Okhotsk paleo-ocean, paleogeodynamic reconstructions, Late Riphean, Late Albian.

TOTAL ELECTRIC CONDUCTIVITY MAP OF THE SEDIMENTARY COVER ROCKS OF THE ASIAN PART OF THE RUSSIAN TERRITORY (SCALE 1: 2500 000)

In recent years (2011–2020), new geophysical data have been obtained, especially those from the MT and TDEM surveys and the magnetotelluric sounding reference cross-sections. In this regard, it seems necessary to compile a new version of the map using available geoelectric information. At the same time, the significance of every geoelectric technique for a specific cross-section in tectonically different regions is taken into account. This circumstance fundamentally increases the geological pithiness of the map, which is the main purpose of its reviewing.

Keywords: electric conductivity, sedimentary cover, longitudinal conductivity, regional cross-section, geoelectric parameter.

WINDY BELT: SUMIAN RIFTING

In the Early Proterozoic, the Windy Belt rift was formed in the Baltic Shield as a result of the destruction of the continental crust. The studies of the sedimentary-volcanogenic complex of the structure showed that the belt was laid on the continental crust within the Karelian craton. Formation of sediments and volcanics took place in an intraplate coastal-marine environment. Reconstruction of the drift sources for clastic formation points to continental conditions during the forma[1]tion of the structure.

Keywords: Baltic Shield, Windy Belt, Early Proterozoic, rift, detrital zircon, U-Th-Pb dating.

PROSPECTIVITY OF THE BUREYA MASSIF FOR U-TR AS ESTIMATED USING NEW GEOCHEMICAL DATA

The paper presents the prospectivity estimate of the Bureya Massif for U and TR based upon the allocation and intensity of geochemically anomalous areas. The prospectivity potential was calculated using an adjustment coefficient α (a proportion of economic ore in the total amount of commercial component within the geochemical halo limits). Highly promising geochemical clusters are highlighted, i.e., Sadylghin (U-Mo), Kaibalak (U-TR), Desh-Alin (rare metal-TR), and Belgatin (TR).

Keywords: Byreya Massif, mineral prospectivity, U-TR mineralization.

ASSESSMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND ECONOMIC USE OF THE TERRITORY OF THE FAR EAST

The article is devoted to the development of methodological foundations of a map of assessing natural resources and economic use of the territory. The results of assessing the natural resources of the territory of the Far East (Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Kamchatka Krai, Magadan Oblast and Khabarovsk Krai) are presented.

Keywords: natural resources, economic use of the territory, the Far East.

TECHNOLOGIES OF GEOLOGICAL SURVEY WORKS: SOVIET AND POST-SOVIET PERIODS, CURRENT STATE AND PROSPECTS

The article analyzes the technology of geological survey work (GSR), the most important component of regional studies of the territory of Russia over the past 80 years. The quality of regional studies largely determines the resource potential and is a reliable basis for the economic development of any state. The advantages and disadvantages of different types of GSR technologies in terms of historical past and present are considered. The necessity to actualize the introduction of technologies of promising types developed before the collapse of the USSR is emphasized.

Keywords: regional works, geological surveying, conditioned and substandard species, prognostic properties of maps.

MEDICAL AND ECOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF MULTI-PURPOSE GEOCHEMICAL MAPPING

The article considers the possibilities of using methods and means of multi-purpose geochemical mapping in the aspect of solving practical medical and environmental problems related to the study of the effects of toxic chemical elements and compounds on the components of the natural environment — soil, water and air and, as a consequence, on human health. A significant contribution to the formulation and solution of such tasks was the development and introduction at the verge of the century of innovative mapping methods into the practice of geochemical work carried out by the Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences Nikolai Vasilyevich Mezhelovsky and his colleagues.

Keywords: multipurpose geochemical mapping, ecological geochemistry, medical geography, medical geology, geoinformation technologies.

NEOTECTONIC ZONING OF THE RUSSIAN TERRITORY

A map of neotectonic zoning of the territory of the Russian Federation ( 1:2 500 000 M) was issued displaying structural features of various rank, which mirror their formative regimes and differ in depth, age of initiation, life periods, direction and integral amplitude range of Late Cenozoic evolutions, as well as in the way and contrast these are exhibited on the day surface. Such features portray the youngest structural plan. The structures are classified into transregional, regional and local categories.

Keywords: neotectonics, geodynamics, neotectonic taxa.
