July 2021 marks the 90th anniversary of the publication of the first issue of the magazine «Prospect & Protection of Mineral resources », which has become today a multifaceted scientific and technical publication, which is one of the basic ones in the geological industry. There is not a single one of any noticeable problems in the field of geological and geophysical research, technology for prospecting and prospecting for minerals that would not be discussed on its pages. The versatility of the issues to be solved and the high level of published materials make the publication interesting for geologists, geophysicists, hydrogeologists, geochemists, geoecologists, drillers and other industry specialists.

ON THE STRATEGY OF GEOLOGICAL EXPLORATION FOR URANIUM IN RUSSIA AT THE PRESENT STAGE
Тhe article deals with the problem of providing the Russian nuclear power industry with uranium resources. It is stated that at present the country’s total demand for uranium is more than 50% covered by imports, and the development of reserve sources of raw materials is hampered by the high cost of their production at low world prices for uranium. It is shown that the share of cheap resources in the world as a whole is still relatively high and the anticipated future growth in world prices may turn out to be moderate and insufficient for the profitable development of production capacities within the country, with the inevitable depletion of the used base. Solidarity is expressed with publications about the need to dramatically increase geological exploration for uranium. However, as a strategic direction of these works, the study of new regions is substantiated, with an orientation towards a new type of uranium deposits with rich ores for the country, using modern genetic models and prospecting techniques developed and successfully applied abroad.

URANIUM AND GOLD-BEARING PRECAMBRIAN SYSTEMS MODEL OF THE TONOD GRANITEMETAMORPHIC UPLIFT (NORTHERN TRANSBAIKALIA)
A geological and genetic model of Precambrian uranium and gold ore objects of the Tonod granite-metamorphic uplift of the southern frame of the Siberian Platform is presented. It is based on the assumption that polychronous gold and uranium ore formation, continental rifting and pulsational mafic magmatism processes are related to the mantle chamber, which is currently fixed by a gravity-density nose at a depth of 16–18 km.

MAGMATOGENIC ORE-BEARING SYSTEMS OF GOLD DEPOSITS OF THE ULBAN TERRANE (KHABAROVSK KRAI, RUSSIA)
The article deals with the magmatogenic ore-bearing systems (MOBS) of the gold deposits of the Ulban terrane of the Mongol-Okhotsk orogenic belt. Most of these systems belong to the Lower Amur metallogenic zone, where they are concentrated in three ore areas — Kutyn, Albazinsky and Ulban with gold, gold-rare metal and gold-silver specialization. The typification of RS on the examples of the most representative ones is carried out according to a complex of features, including their structural position and structure, characteristics of ore-producing magmatic complexes, types of metal-bearing metasomatic processes, and the composition of ores. There are several types of systems associated with: volcano-dome structures; subvolcanic intrusive-dome structures; intrusive-dome structures of the hypabyssal level.

THE DISCOVERY OF MINERAL DEPOSITS IS AN INDICATOR OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF EXPLORATION AND DEVELOPMENT
In 2013–2020, for the first time, more than 700 deposits of various solid minerals were put on the state balance sheet for the first time for the reproduction of the mineral and raw materials base of the Russian Federation. The distribution of deposits by year, subjects of the Russian Federation, minerals is considered. The most significant deposits have been named. The information about the organization’s receipt of evidence on the discovery of mineral deposits and awarding specialists with the departmental sign «The Discoverer of the Deposit» is given.

FRACTAL GEOMETRY IN SOLVING PROBLEMS OF EXPLORATION AND EVALUATION OF SOLID MINERAL DEPOSITS
The provisions of fractal geometry in the field of exploration of solid mineral deposits were previously practically not used. The paper considers the issues of their application to determine the complexity of the morphology of ore bodies and the typification of objects, as well as to assess the errors of geometrization at the early stages of geological exploration. The prospects of using the principles of fractal theory for the mathematical description of various dependencies between the characteristics of geological objects, including in the case of variantwise calculation of reserves, are highlighted.

INFLUENCE OF THE DRILLING MUD QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ON IMPROVING THE EFFICIENCY OF WELL CONSTRUCTION
The review of the problem of the impact of the drilling mud quality management system on improving the efficiency of well construction is carried out. It is shown what measures can be used to improve the quality of drilling fluids. Studies were carried out to determine the inhibitory ability of the developed drilling fluids. It is proposed to use the Shewhart-Deming cycle to identify the impact of the drilling mud quality management system on improving the efficiency of well construction.

MANAGEMENT OF NATURAL-MAN-GENERAL LANDSCAPES OF PERMANENT PERMAFROST AREAS ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE YUZHNOE DEPOSIT OF ELKON URANIUM ORE AREA (YAKUTIA)
The article deals with the problem of preserving the landscapes of the cryolithozone disturbed during the construction of industrial facilities of the mining and metallurgical complex. Using the example of an object under construction, we analyze the size of the territory that can potentially be affected by pollutants during the construction phase and during the operation of the object. It is proposed to define such a territory as a «Zone of the potential danger», which can significantly exceed the size of the sanitary protection zone of an industrial facility.
