THE STATUS OF REGIONAL ENGINEERING-GEOLOGICAL WORKS

Results of the regional engineering-geological works, carried out by VSEGINGEO during the last years, are considered. An assessment is given to the current status of engineering-geological investigations as the main informational basis of stable development of the territories with complicated engineering-geological conditions suffering different-degree anthropogenic loads. There is discussed a wide circle of problems connected with the present-day level of development and tendencies of solving the fundamental scientific and applied problems of the regional engineering geology.

THE STATUS OF THE REGIONAL HYDROGEOLOGICAL WORKS

Basic results of the State-scaled hydrogeological mapping carried out during the last decade by the task of the Rosnedra are presented. There are shown the achievements and drawbacks of the works. The objects are considered and proposals are given on basic directions of improving the regional works for the medium-term prospect.

PRINCIPLES OF SMALL-SCALED HYDROGEOLOGICAL MAPPING AND ITS IMPLEMENTATION IN THE GIS-FORMAT

The paper describes a set of hydrogeological maps on the scale of 1:1 000 000, their basic contents and representation in the GIS-medium. The ways are suggested for creation of the unified approach to mapping and stratification of a hydrogeological cross-section, and increase of providing the maps with factual data.

REGIONAL HYDROGEOLOGICAL CONDITIONS, THE PROBLEMS OF USE AND PROTECTION OF GROUNDWATER ON THE TERRITORY OF KALMYKIA

The regional hydrogeological conditions, peculiarities of distribution, use and protection of groundwater in the Upper Neogene-Quaternary and Lower Paleogene-Mesozoic and Upper Paleozoic rock complexes are discussed. The recommendations are given for economic development and protection of groundwater in an arid region.

PECULIARITIES OF THE TECHNIQUE OF HYDROGEOLOGICAL AND GEOECOLOGICAL SMALL-SCALED MAPPING IN DIFFERENT NATURAL AND ANTHROPOGENICALLY DISTURBED CONDITIONS OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

There are formulated basic statements of the modern technique of hydrogeological and geoecological small-scaled mapping of the Russian Federation in different natural and anthropogenically disturbed conditions. Here, the most important meaning belongs to development of mineral deposits, development of cities, transport communications, agricultural production. It is necessary to develop and put into practice a technique of marine and seaside studying and mapping of hydrogeological and geoecological conditions. It is necessary to compile new maps of assessment and prediction of the geoenvironmental state on the developed territories, to develop typical hydrogeological models.

PREDICTED GROUNDWATWER RESOURCES OF THE DEEP HORIZONS AS SOURCES OF HYDROMINERAL AND HEAT-POWER-GENERATING RAW PRODUCTS OF ARTESIAN BASINS

Prospects of using groundwater of deep horizons of artesian basins as heat-power and hydromineral raw products by means of reactivating the existing deep wells from the undistributed fond of mineral resources on the CFR and NWFR territories, drilled earlier for searching oil, gas and other purposes, are discussed. There are defined productive horizons and complexes containing groundwater that is suitable to be used as heat carriers and for extraction of industrial components; there are given basic characteristics of these horizons and results of estimation of the predicted resources. There are distinguished the sites and wells that are the most perspective for these purposes.

FEATURES OF HYDROGEOLOGICAL DISSECTION OF THE PLIOCENE-QUATERNARY SEDIMENTS PROFILE OF THE PECHORA ARTESIAN BASIN

Basic features of the hydrogeological dissection of the Pliocene-Quaternary sediments in the Pechora Artesian Basin (PAB) territory. Analyzed the main problems and difficulties of correlation of the collected data. Shows the general correlation scheme for PAB, also used in the Russian Federation. Ways to allocation of the water-bearing horizons and complexes are planned. But the question about an influence of perennially frozen rocks upon hydrogeological dissection of the Pliocene-Quaternary sediments still stays debatable.

ENGINEERING-GEOLOGICAL MAPS OF A NEW GENERATION – THE BASIS FOR RATIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF ANTHROPOGENICALLY LOADED TERRITORIES (ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE MOSCOW SYNECLOSE)

Scientific and applied problems connected with the VSEGINGEO works on compilation of engineering-geological maps of scale 1:1 000 000 of a new generation are discussed. Creation of a new system of different-scaled regional engineering-geological investigations, based on modern GIS-technologies, ensures a principally new level and content of information to provide techno-natural safety while planning and realization of anthropogenic loads. There are described the peculiarities of the engineering-geological map of scale 1:1 000 000 of a new generation of Sheet N-37 (Moscow).

ASSESSMENT OF A MUDFLOW HAZARD ON THE CRIMEAN TERRITORY AT THE CURRENT CLIMATIC CHANGES

Collected and analyzed data on the mudflow manifestation on the territory of Crimea in XX – XXI centuries. The analysis has been carried out with the use of the technique, developed by the authors, which makes it possible to assess the activity of mudflows, basing on the concrete cases of their manifestation. The conditions for mudflows appearance were analyzed using the Classification of Northern Hemisphere atmospheric circulation, developed under the leadership of B.L. Dzerdzeevskii.. On the basis of the carried out investigations, there is given the assessment of a mudflow hazard on the Crimean territory in the period of the current climate changes.

GEOCRYOLOGICAL CONDITIONS OF THE KARA SEA NEAR-YAMAL SHALLOW SHELF IN THE AREA OF THE GEOGRYOLOGICAL STATION MARRE-SALE OF VSEGINGEO

The paper presents results of studying the upper 20m-thick Near-Yamal bottom shelf sediments, stripped by two boreholes of VSEGINGEO in May of 2014, drilled at different distances from the shore. The boreholes were equipped with the loggers LРС-F for monitoring observations of temperature regime dynamics in the bottom sediments. There were obtained data on the temperature regime for three summer months in one of the boreholes. The composition and aqua-physical properties of the sediments samples were analyzed in laboratory of VSEGINGEO. A parallel was drawn between the subaerial and subaqueous cross-sections of the Station, which showed that the modern marine sediments represent relict strata, subjected to cryogenic metamorphization in the subaerial conditions.

There is demonstrated a technique of on-line publication, developed by the specialists from VSEGINGEO, taking into account the specificity of hydrogeological maps. ASSESMENT OF THE SUBSUFACE SEISMOGEODYNAMIC STATE ACCORDING TO RESULTS OF THE GAS-HYDROGEOCHEMICAL MONITORING AT UPPER-KUBAN POLYGON

The paper presents the results of multi-year observations, fulfilled at the Upper-Kuban Polygon (testing site) of FGUP “VSEGINGEO”, over the concentration of Helium and Radon in water and comparison of the obtained results with seismicity of the given territory. The analysis includes daily measurements of gases concentrations in the spring Dzherkli and the observation well VK-9 for the period from 2010 to 2015. There are given the statistic characteristics of seismic activity of the territory adjacent to the polygon. During the study period the seismo-geodynamic situation of the territory was varying within the background values An interconnection of some statistic parameters, obtained by treatment of the temporal rows of the Helium and Radon concentrations, with manifestations of seismic activity is shown.

Exogenic and endogenic processes on the polygons (testing sites) of the SMSS (State Monitoring of the State of the Subsurface) on the territories of the Central Federal Region (CFR), River-Volga Federal Region (VFR), North-Western Federal Region (NWFR), North-Caucasian Federal Region (NCFR).

GENERAL HYDROGEOLOGICAL ZONING OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION ON THE SCALE OF 1:2 500 000 (TECHNIQUE AND TECHNOLOGY, RESULTS AND PROBLEMS)

There are described the complications and problems of general hydrogeological zoning of the RF territory: availability of different scientific and methodical approaches and actually absence of an unambiguous opinion and approach to general hydrogeological zoning; difficulties with observing unified principles due to a variety of natural conditions on the RF territory; problems with the technology to define and substantiate hydrogeological structures and especially with the technology of concrete tracing of their boundaries. There are considered the examples of problematic areas as a result of absence of structural and geological argumentations with multi-variant and ambiguous substantiation of boundaries of hydrogeological structures and conventionality of their tracing.

PROSPECTS OF GEODYNAMIC ACTIVITY FORECAST USING HYDROGEODEFORMATION FIELD MONITORING DATA

In order to improve the HGD-field monitoring system and to increase its geodynamic informativity VSEGINGEO has developed and approved new methods of operative estimation of a seismic hazard basing on the field’s energy parameters and vectors of strain, cycles of hydrogeological impulses and attractors combining them. These methods make it possible to predict time, a rough place and magnitude of a forthcoming earthquake. By results of the retrospective analysis of earthquakes, happened in various regions, a calibration graph has been plotted which allows to define the expected magnitude of an earthquake using the values of total kinetic energy. Successful application of the above-mentioned methods was demonstrated on the example of two strong earthquakes on the territory of Russia. ANALYSIS OF THE CURRENT STATE OF COMPUTER TECHNOLOGIES FOR NUMERICAL MODELING OF HYDROGEOLOGICAL PROCESSES

Modern computer technologies and program systems (complexes) for numerical modeling of hydrogeological processes are discussed. The information is given about the best domestic professionally oriented computer programs, enabling with a high effectiveness to solve the most complex problems of mathematical modeling of groundwater fields. There is defined a list of characteristics and there is carried out the comparative analysis of the mostly distributed modeling systems.
