A REVIEW OF REGULATORY AND LEGAL DOCUMENTS REGULATING THE EXPLORATION AND USE OF POTABLE AND INDUSTRIAL UNDERGROUND WATER SOURCES

The regulatory and legal framework (as of 01.01.2014) regulating the exploration of underground water sources for potable and public water supply and process water supply to industrial facilities is reviewed in this article. The sequence of operations during geological explorations, construction and operation of water intake facilities is demonstrated. A comparison analysis of legislation norms on subsurface resources and related areas of law is carried out in this article.

IS RIVER LOW-WATER FLOW A MEASURE CONTRIBUTING TO UNDERGROUND WATER OR COMMON UNDERGROUND WATER INFLOW?

An inflow correlation of underground waters and river low-water flow is considered in this article. It is demonstrated that this equalization is incorrect, since in most cases the low-water flow of rivers is less than ground water inflow. The article substantiates possible application of mean annual module for underground inflow into rivers instead of Р95% as it is practiced at present time in order to evaluate probable operational underground water reserves. A real example of ratio analysis of river flow rates and natural resources of underground water is considered in this article.

EXPERT EVALUATIONS OF UNDERGROUND WATER POTENTIAL RESERVE IN DEVELOPING COMPLEX USE AND WATER SUPPLY CONSERVATION SCHEMES

The results of studies on regional evaluations of underground water potential reserves in the Russian Federation carried out at the turn of XX and XXI centuries by a department of the RF Ministry of Natural Resources under scientific-methodological supervision of GIDEK company are considered. A possible application of informational systems including factographic and cartographic databases for expert evaluations of possible intake volumes of underground water and its quality is demonstrated. The calculation principles for regional factors related to surface discharge reduction in connection with underground water intake are provided to substantiate joint use of underground and surface water sources.

ONCE AGAIN ABOUT SIMPLIFIED REQUIREMENTS FOR EVALUATING UNDERGROUND WATER RESERVES FOR SMALL WATER INTAKES: PROBLEM STATUS AND POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

We have reviewed the issues related to evaluating underground water reserves within subsurface plots used by these water intake facilities. Legal regulation of subsurface management and negative consequences of existing work system, expert evaluation of their results, state record-keeping of water reserves. An analysis of possible criteria for differentiating subsurface plots is carried out. The term «standalone water intake facility» («standalone water intake works») is updated and the propositions to introduce simplified requirements for evaluating water reserves, contents and preparation of report materials are given.

NATURAL HYDROGEOLOGICAL MODEL FOR SVIYAZHSK UNDERGROUND WATER DEPOSIT IN THE REPUBLIC OF TATARSTAN

This article reviews a natural hydrogeological model of Sviyazhsk potable underground water deposit – the only potable water supply source in Predvolzhie territory with limited water resources within the Republic of Tatarstan. The substantiation of this natural model is an essentially importance significance for target-oriented methodology of prospecting operations at Sviyazhsk deposit. The peculiarities of underground water formations determining their exploration and estimation procedure are reviewed in this article.

FORMATION ORGANIC CARBON COMPOSITION OF COMPOUND CARBON DIOXIDE MINERAL WATERS OF THE ESSENTUKY, NAGUTSKY DEPOSITS

The matters of the gas chemical consistent patterns of the formation of the composition of compound carbon dioxide mineral waters of the Essentuky and Nagutsky basin have been considered. A source of the formation of the carbon dioxide layout of mineral waters is thermal metamorphic supercritical fluids of Н2О, СО2 и H2S (sc-fluid) entering from the crystalline basement and biogenic carbonic acid formed as a result of the biodegradation of light hydrocarbons of the petroleum series (С ≤10) migrating in the form extracted with CO2 sc-fluids. When CO2 sc-fluids are degradated to gas, hydrocarbons discharge in the form of an independent phase.

THE TYPE DESIGN OF COMBINED WATER INTAKE SYSTEMS IN JOINT USE OF UNDERGROUND AND SURFACE WATERS

A new type design practice for combined water intake systems when underground and surface water sources are jointly used both in compensating mode and permanent operation mode of both water sources is offered in this article. The most efficient variants for compensating use of underground water sources with insufficient surface water sources are identified without any damage to the latter.

THE IDENTIFICATION OF SUBGELISOL DURING WATER EXPLORATION USING GEOPHYSICAL METHODS

The application features of geophysical methods in identifying subgelisol in solid and unconsolidated rocks are analyzed. The application practicability of water geophysics at the initial stage of studies with identification of underflow (underlake subgelisols) with further tracing of them as interpermafrost and subpermafrost subgelisols right on a work site.

SUBGELISOL IDENTIFICATION EXPERIENCE IN A PERMAFROST ZONE OF YAMAL PENINSULA

In connection with further intensive development of Yamal peninsula it is necessary to solve the problems with stable water supply to existing inhabited localities and to those planned to be constructed, hydrocarbon minding and processing facilities and their infrastructure. Until recently this possibility to use underground water sources for these purposes was estimated as of little promise due to historical perceptions that these resources are limited. A hydrogeological exploration experience obtained on Yamal over recent years makes it possible to change these perceptions and consider underground water sources as the most favorable source for potable water supply.

Reviews the formation peculiarities of underground water chemical compound in quaternary alluvial deposits within the Sok river valley. A hydrogeological model of Zapadnobelozersk subsurface plot is substantiated, the schematization data on filtration medium and hydrogeochemical parameters are provided, an optimal design option for water intake facilities in complex hydrogeochemical conditions is offered.

The main peculiarities of hydrogeological formation within Uritsky hydrocarbon deposit are characterized. A geologic filtration model of Uritsky discharge field is justified in the article, the filtration medium schematization and hydrogeochemical parameters data are provided in this article. The article describes the results of forecast task solutions and provides the efficient schemes for further operation of the field.

THE RESULTS OF THE GROUP TEST-OPERATIONAL PUMPING AT ANOMALY HIGH FILTRATION ROCK PROPERTIES AT UDOMELSKY UNDERGROUND WATER DEPOSIT

Maintenance of strict temperature mode of reactor blocks of atomic power plants is carried out by exploiting of natural or artificial reservoirs-coolers. Kalinin NPP is located at the watershed, so the surface water resources for cooling during warm seasons are not enough – there is a drastic decrease in the volume of water due to high evaporation and exceedances of water temperature in cooling ponds. One of the ways to resupply cooling lakes with a deficit of surface water resources is an attraction of low-temperature underground water.
