expedition<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"annotation-text\">The main stages of the 50 years history of the state enterprise Polar marine geosurvey expedition established in 1962 are reflected in this paper. The main results obtained by the organization in the main field of its activity (geological and geophysical investigations in the Arctic, Antarctic and World ocean) are shown. A role of the expedition in the geological and geophysical works in Arctic is shown, in particular in the decision of such an important geopolitical problem as the determination of the continental shelf boundary in the Arctic ocean. It is spoken about the large discoveries of mineral deposits in the Russian part of Arctic and also about the numerous discoveries of deep-sea polymetallic sulphides in the Atlantic ocean. The leading role of the expedition in the carrying out of the Russian field geological and geophysical investigations in the Antarctic seas and on the Antarctic continent is reflected. These rocks contain mantle xenoliths and deep seated minerals: pyrope, chrome-diopside, chrome-spinel and others. Dike age is D3C1, and it allows to correlate this magmatism with the kimberlite magmatism of the same age of Kola peninsula and Arkhangelsk area. The accessory zircons from Kropotkinsky granitoids complex in the east of October Revolution island are of Ordovician age. Twomica granites of Yeremeevsky-Birulinsky complex in the northern part of Taimyr peninsula contain magmatic zircons of Carboniferous age and inherited ones \u2014 of the Vendian age. A predominance of Early Cretaceous palynomorphs in Pleistocene-Holocene strata of the Kara Sea suggests Aptian-Albian and Aptian-Senomanian age of underlying bedrocks.
